English Setter Rescue Information: The English Setter is a medium sized, lightly speckled, slim and elegant dog. English Setters are gentle pets that are wonderful with children. English Setters are calm indoors but need a large fenced yard in which to roam and play. This breed can be difficult to housebreak, and likes to bark. English Setters are great with other dogs, and enjoy plenty of human and canine companionship.

English Setter Trivia: Setters were first bred in sixteenth century France. The first English Setter was bred by Sir Edward Laverack in the 1800s. There are two different varieties of English Setters, the field variety and the show variety.
